Howard Fuller will read from his just-published autobiography, No Struggle, No Progress: A Warrior’s Life from Black Power to Education Reform (co-authored with Lisa Frazier Page). The book will capture the attention of anyone interested in civil rights, black power or the education of the nation’s children. It will be of special interest to Durhamites, since Fuller, distinguished professor of education and founder and director of the Institute for the Transformation of Learning at Marquette University, was hired as a community organizer for Durham’s Operation Breakthrough in 1965 and later founded Malcolm X University. A book signing will follow the reading. This event is co-sponsored by the Hayti Heritage Center.
